Voting for Recurring Sin?

Voting for Recurring Sin?

Jawed Anwar

We neither vote Fahishist nor Zionist for any public post.

Please don’t argue for the lesser evil.

However, in many cases Fahishist and Zionist are the same. For example, Fahishist Bonnie Crombie, the mayoral candidate of Mississauga, has been included on a Zionist-supported list for the upcoming city elections.

There is recurring reward, and there is recurring sin.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious child, who prays for him (for the deceased).
— Sahih Muslim (1631)

Jarir ibn ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

He who sets a good precedent in Islam, there is a reward for him for this (act of goodness) and reward of that also who acted according to it subsequently, without any deduction from their rewards; and he who sets in Islam an evil precedent, there is upon him the burden of that, and the burden of him also who acted upon it subsequently, without any deduction from their burden.

— Sahih Muslim (1017a)

“Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”
“Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds follow them.”  (Bible; Revelation 14:13)

If you vote for someone, and that person later makes a law, policy, or plan that is evil—something that destroys the family, life, gender, values, morality, society, the nation, or humanity—or that supports injustice, such as funding or arming the genocidal state of Israel, or aggression against oppressed nations, weaker peoples, and minorities of the world, then you share in the consequences.

Voting for Fahishist racists and fascists is like acquiring recurring sin.

Every voter who supports the evildoers is responsible. On the Day of Judgment, each person will face the residual burden of that sin.

Your religious scholars who support the evildoers will not be able to help you on the Day of Judgment. They will be in trouble themselves.

So do not treat the vote lightly or as mere fun. It is an extremely serious matter.

If you are certain that the candidate for mayor, city councillor, or school board trustee in your city, town, or ward is neither Fahishist nor Zionist, but a good person from whom you can expect good deeds, then you may vote.

Otherwise, abstain.

The Mississauga mayoral race is extremely close between Bonnie Crombie and Carolyn Parrish. A vote for a third candidate could help Bonnie Crombie win. Voters who share religious values are encouraged to vote for Carolyn Parrish.

We are voting for Carolyn Parrish, as she is the only choice for us. We encourage others not to split their vote. Alvin Tedjo is a good candidate, but he is very likely to finish third.
