Mississauga, Ontario — July 27, 2026

The Haya Movement of Canada, a project of the Seerah Education Foundation, organized the Haya Parade on Sunday, July 26, at Celebration Square in Mississauga, bringing together families and members from multiple faith communities in a public declaration of faith, modesty, and family values. The event began at 11:00 AM and drew a sizeable crowd of participants who marched carrying placards affirming their belief in God's design for gender, family, and marriage.

The principal organizer, Jawed Anwar, delivered the keynote address, opening with the takbeer — Allahu Akbar (God is the Greatest), praising God— and outlining the three core principles behind the movement: that God created humanity in two complementary genders, masculine and feminine; that the sacred bond between man and woman is exclusive to adults; and that this union is honored and protected through the sacred covenant of marriage. "We stand here today — not out of fear, but out of faith. Not in protest, but in pride," Anwar declared before the crowd. He spoke with conviction about Haya — encompassing bashfulness, decency, modesty, and dignity — describing it as the Prophetic way of life and a shield against moral confusion. "Haya is not weakness. Haya is strength," he said. Addressing the issue of gender ideology in schools, he stated firmly, "We will not be silent while our children are confused in classrooms. We believe schools must educate, not indoctrinate." He reaffirmed the non-negotiable right of parents to raise their children according to their values and faith, warning that the weakening of families leads to the weakening of society and ultimately the nation. He closed with the words: "Haya is our pride. Family is our strength. Faith is our foundation."

The event opened with a Quranic recitation session in which Hafiz Abu Bakr recited seven verses and Hafiz Samad delivered their English translations in a flowing format — one verse followed immediately by its meaning. The verses were drawn from Surah Aal-Imran (3:104, 3:110) and Surah At-Tawbah (9:71), collectively emphasizing the divine command to enjoin good, forbid wrong, and stand as guardians of one another. A nasheed was performed by Muhammad Abdullah Hashim during this opening session. Mohammad Yazdani, a member of the Haya Parade Organizing Committee, delivered the welcoming address, and fellow committee member Naeem ur Rahman made the event announcements.

A second session on family values was led by Hafiz Samad, who presented and explained Quranic verses from Surah An-Nisa (4:1), Surah Al-Baqarah (2:35), Surah Al-A'raf (7:189), Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13), Surah Adh-Dhariyat (51:49), and Surah At-Tahrim (66:6). The verses underscored the sanctity of the family unit, the complementary nature of the two genders, and the responsibility of parents to protect their children and households.

Throughout the parade, participants carried placards bearing slogans such as "HAYA IS OUR PRIDE," "Honour God's Design for Family & Marriage," "Two Adults, Two Genders, One Covenant, Forever," "Faith + Family = Forever," "Protect Innocence — Preserve Childhood," and "Don't Mess with Our Children." A young boy carried a sign reading "I am a BOY. Don't Confuse Me about Gender," while a young girl carried one reading "I am a Girl. Don't Confuse Me about Gender." Women participants held placards declaring "Haya is My Strength! It Empowers Me! I am Confident!" and "Parents are the Rightful Owner of their Children — Not Other Institutions."

The event concluded on a deeply moving note when a young child named Omar recited Surah Ad-Duha before the assembled crowd. Jawed Anwar closed his address by thanking all volunteers who worked to make the event a success, saying, "May Allah make them and their families successful in this world and the Hereafter."

The Haya Movement of Canada advocates for modesty, family integrity, and parental rights, rooted in Quranic guidance and supported by cross-faith perspectives. The movement holds that the two-gender principle is not a societal construct but a divine truth echoed across the world's major religions, and firmly opposes institutional interference in child-rearing while calling for the preservation of parental authority.
