Calgary declared a state of local emergency Sunday as the number of COVID-19 infections in Alberta jumped significantly this weekend.
The declaration means city-run facilities in Calgary, including recreation centres and libraries, will be ordered to close. Businesses, including bars and restaurants, will also be required to keep their capacity to either less than half their capacity under fire code or fewer than 250 people, whichever is lower.
Grocery stores, public transit, airports, shopping centres, pharmacies, big-box commercial retail, office buildings, shelters, care centres and casinos are exempt from the restrictions.
Gamblers of casinos are considered more important than God worshipers of Churches, Synagogues, Masajid, and temples.
